Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has issued an urgent recall on its in-store bakery All Butter Croissants – because they contain nuts that could trigger deadly allergic reactions.
The pastries contain an almond filling that isn’t declared on the packaging.
The recall is for all individual 70p Sainsbury’s bakery All Butter Croissants and £1.10 twin packs with best before dates up to and including September 26th.
It is not yet known which stores the croissants were sold in so Swindon stores may or may not be affected.
Sainsbury’s is asking any customer who has bought the croissants to return them to their local store. They will receive a full refund.
A Sainsbury’s spokeswoman said: “We are urgently investigating with our supplier following a report that the product may contain almonds.
“No other Sainsbury’s products are affected and we’re sorry for any concern and inconvenience this may cause.”
It’s thought that only a few “isolated” croissants contain the almond filling, but Sainsbury’s said it was recalling all products because it isn’t “willing to take risks where the safety of our customers is concerned”.
