Wiltshire Police are appealing for information following an incident at the B&M store in Swindon.
At approximately 11.30am yesterday (February 5), a group of four women entered the store near the Transfer Bridges and were seen to place a number of items into their bags, before leaving without making any attempt to pay.
A member of staff intercepted the group and asked for payment but the group were verbally abusive.
They left the store and got into a vehicle in the car park.
The member of staff again attempted to intercept the group, when one of them got out of the vehicle and assaulted him before getting back into the vehicle.
The driver then reversed, striking the staff member to the leg.
Officers attended the scene and a 28-year-old woman from Cheltenham was arrested on suspicion of common assault and theft from a shop while a 32-year-old woman from Cheltenham was arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention and theft from a shop.
Both have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
