A brand new Midcounties Co-operative Food store is due to open in East Wichelstowe next week, following a £550,000 investment that has created 15 new jobs in the community.
The new 2,300 sq ft store in Staldon Court will be offering local residents a wide range of grocery essentials for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as an in-store bakery, hot food counter and Costa Coffee machine for those needing a pick-me-up.
A selection of delicious, locally-sourced food and drink will also be available as part of the store’s Best of our Counties range, which champions more than 2,500 products made locally in the counties the Society trades in. East Wichelstowe’s range will include wine from Poulton Hill Estate in Cirencester, fresh fruit and vegetables from Alcester’s Mudwalls Farm and chilli-infused products from Gloucestershire Chilli Farm.
The new 15-strong team of colleagues includes store manager and qualified wine expert Jeanette Timminswho will be on-hand to offer customers expert guidance on selecting the perfect bottle for every occasion.
As part of The Midcounties Co-operative’s commitment to sustainability, the new site also features eco-friendly LED lighting as well as energy-efficient refrigeration.
