Local candidates are hoping to win one of Swindon’s Borough Council’s seats at this year’s local elections .

The polls will open on Thursday 2nd May with voters getting the chance to put a cross next to who they want to represent their ward.

Once you arrive at your local polling station indicated on your voter card, just tell the staff your name and address and they will cross your name off the list and tell you what you need to do.

You will be asked to enter a booth, vote for the choice of candidate and place the paper in the ballot box.

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on the day, and are usually public buildings such as schools or local halls.

This election is for the Borough and Parish councils only – the local MP’s are not up for re-election this year.
