Business West members recently met with one of the Deputy Governors of the Bank of England, Ben Broadbent, in Swindon to discuss the state of the local and national economy.

The visit gave Swindon and Wiltshire businesses the opportunity to quiz one of the Bank of England’s most senior representatives, and helped the Bank gather in-depth information regarding the local economy direct from company bosses.

Ian Larrard, Director of the Swindon & Wiltshire Initiative at Business West co-hosted the visit and said:

“Ben’s visit to Swindon serves as recognition of our economic importance on a national basis and gives confidence to the business community that the Bank of England is truly listening to them.

“On behalf of the business community, I would like to thank Ben and the Bank of England for taking the time to visit Swindon during this time of heightened Brexit uncertainty.”

In his role as Deputy Governor for the Bank of England, Ben holds functional responsibility for Monetary Policy and is one of five Deputy Governors who report directly to Bank of England Governor Mark Carney.
