On Wednesday night the Victoria in Old Town will be hosting an Edinburgh Fringe preview of a new darkly comedic play: “After Today – A Bill Grundy Story”:

“In this mixture of drama and black comedy, we meet TV presenter Bill Grundy some three years after his profanity-littered, car-crash interview with the Sex Pistols live on teatime TV in 1976.

An erudite, driven man, but with a huge self-destructive streak, Bill struggles to keep his career going. He reflects on how his career turned from being the era’s Paxman into a 1970s Partridge, and we get to understand how Bill inadvertently kick-started a cultural movement he abhors, and why that Today interview continues to haunt him.”

This is the penultimate preview of the show – there’s one final preview at the London Theatre, New Cross Road, London on 27th July – so if you’re interested in catching this darkly funny new piece before it’s Edinburgh run then is your chance.  It’s also a “scratch” preview so entrance to the play will be on a pay-what-you-want basis.

Failing that “After Today – A Bill Grundy Story” will be running at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival at PQA Venues between 3rd and 26th August.
