Sunday evening saw the launch of a new Charity Single by local song writing duo, Clarry Bean and Andy Merryweather, ‘Christmas (The Way it’s Meant To Be)’.
The evening, hosted in front of 120 guests, started with the premiere screening of the official video for the song. A very moving experience for everyone who was there, thinking about loved ones they have lost. Clarry, Andy, Abby and Christine’s Choir then gave a live acoustic performance of the single.
Deputy Mayor, Cllr Kevin Parry attended the evening and gave a speech saying ‘it was an amazing and moving evening in support of two great charities, Prospect and Vasculitis UK and in tribute to a very special lady’.
Clarry Bean sadly lost his wife, Christine, just 12 days before Christmas in 2017. She had received treatment for several years for both a rare autoimmune disease (GPA) and bowel cancer. Christine loved this magical time of year, and Clarry and Andy have been busy writing and recording a song in her memory.
The evening was not only to launch the single, but a time to reflect and celebrate the good work of two great charities. Representatives of Prospect Hospice who cared for Christine were in attendance and Jayne Hardman, who appeared on This Time Next Year, from Vasculitis UK also attended the evening and gave a moving speech of her own experience of the disease. Both these charities will benefit from sales of the CD and so far 230 copies have been sold ahead of its launch on Friday 7 December.
Clarry said ‘The evening was a wonderful way to pay tribute to Christine and to see the reaction of everyone to the song was amazing. It was a truly special night’.
