This afternoon saw runners take part in the usual Parkrun at Lydiard Park, only this time with a little entertainment to help them round.

Jake the Juggler and The Cats Pyjamas, who early this morning opened the 2017 Swindon Festival of Literature at Lawn Woods, were there to entertain them at the start and finish lines with a little acrobatics, juggling and music.

Festival Organiser Matt Holland took part in the race wearing his festival vest and spectator James Stevens from West Swindon enjoyed the afternoon entertainment commenting ‘these guys should come here every week, it adds to the atmosphere.’

The kitchens at Lower Shaw Farm were also busy this week cooking up a little ‘gingerbread runner’ as a treat for all of those that completed the 5km run.

Many of the runners took the opportunity to head over to the conference centre to take in the afternoon’s illustrated talk on Lydiard House and Park with Sarah Finch-Crisp who ran the audience through the history of the park including the future plans.
