In July 1919 the country celebrated the official end of the First World War,but in Swindon the festivities turned riotous. For three days, disillusioned and disappointed ex-servicemen took to the streets, singing songs, looting shops and setting the Town Hall’s new flagpole alight.

Prime Theatre has teamed up with schools, artists and historians to provide a day packed full of activity at the Old Town Hall and Central Library. Join us for archive tours, sing-a-longs, visual art, dance and drama performances.

A new radio play dramatizing local events will also be broadcast by BBC Wiltshire.
