12.30pm – 1.30pm: WRITERS’ LUNCH

– where healthy homemade food will nourish you and meeting other writers at table may inspire you!

Writing is a solitary business. Writing well is a tricky one. Writing good prose or poetry, for others to read, is even harder. How can we do it better?

What are the techniques, for writing poems, short stories, or anything in prose? How can we produce writing that is fit to be read, heard, or published?

This workshop will have friendship, inspiring writing exercises, and time for questions and discussion.

Experienced writers will gain more experience and newcomers will discover helpful ways into writing. In other words, anyone interested in improving their writing skills, receiving good guidance, meeting other writers, and discovering more about writing for performance or publication is welcome.

Bring your laptops, if you wish; and any other favoured writing instruments and materials too.

With a number of anthologies to his name, experienced workshop leader Matt Harvey, who says that it’s likely we may surprise the very words we have written, is a poet, broadcaster, writer for Radio 4’s Off the Page and The Guardian, and is author of three song cycles and a musical. His latest book is Sit!
