Phil Brown will be hoping to see a boost to his playing budget this afternoon after Bristol City confirmed Aden Flint will be departing the club after accepting a bid of at least £5million from Middlesbrough.

When the 28-year-old centre-back moved along the M4 for £1million back in 2013 it is believed the club added a 15-20% sell on fee in to the contract.

With the £5million guaranteed, add-ons taking the deal to £7million should ‘Boro achieve promotion, Town should expect to see around £800,000 as the sell on fee – the fee is based on the amount City receive on top of what they paid.

How much of this money is passed on to the manager to boost the squad remains to be confirmed.
