Champions Swindon have been invited to the Mayor’s office this Thursday.
The 2018 team will meet Councillor Maureen Penny, the Mayor of Swindon, ahead of their Premiership opener against Leicester at the Abbey.
Manager and co-promoter Alun Rossiter says it’s a huge honour for the club but is also well deserved after their stunning title success last October.
“We’re proud and honoured to accept the invitation to attend a reception at the Mayor’s office,” he said.
“All the boys have been invited, even those who didn’t ride for us last season, because we are a team.
“It’s a nice way for the achievement to be recognised and we thank the Mayor for her very kind invitation and look forward to meeting her.”
Leicester provide tough opposition on Thursday night with Grand Prix star Martin Vaculik making his first ever appearance at the Abbey.
“It should be a great meeting and after a break in racing because of the weather all the boys can’t wait to get back started,” said Rossiter.
