Lidl have today issued an urgent safety recall for 500gram packs of its Golden Sun Organic Grains because the product may contain salmonella bugs.

The budget supermarket say the 500g Golden Sun Organic Grains assorted Amaranth packs are being removed from shelves amid fears people could fall ill from eating the rice-like grains and any packets bought should be returned to the store for a full refund.

 The grains in question, some of which have been recalled by Lidl over fears they contain salmonella

The Government’s Food Standards Agency said “If you have bought any, do not eat it.

“Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

Lidl said in a statement: “As salmonella may pose a risk to health, we advise customers not to consume the product and we are recalling the product as a precaution.

“Other Golden Sun products are not affected by this recall. We and our supplier Estyria Naturprodukte GmbH wish to apologise for this incident.”
