Cat and dog owners are being invited to two free mobile micro-chipping events taking place tomorrow, Saturday 1st April.

Hosted by Swindon Borough Council in partnership with the Blue Cross, the events will take place  in Wroughton and Wichelstowe.

There is no need to book an appointment, and all cats and dogs can be micro-chipped.

The clinics will be held at:

  • 10am- 11am  – Stoweaway Community Centre, Staldon Road, East Wichel, Swindon, SN1 7AG.
  • 11:15am – 12:15pm – Ellendune Community Centre, Barrett Way, Wroughton, Swindon SN4 9LW.
  • 12:30pm – 1:15pm – Maunsell Way Recreation Ground, Wroughton, SN4 9JF.

The Microchipping of Dogs (England) Regulations 2015 Act requires all dogs over the age of 8 weeks to be micro-chipped with fully up-to-date ownership details. It is a breach to have a dog that is not chipped or has out of date information and those falling foul of the new law face a fine of up to £500.

No owner attending these micro-chipping events will be prosecuted.

If yu are unable to get along to one of these locations and wish to have your pet micro-chipped you should contact their vet or arrange an appointment with the Blue Cross by calling 0300 777 1570.

Swindon Borough Council will be hosting another event later in the month covering Pinehurst and Penhill.
