Local music promoters of all things weird, wonderful and a bit left field,Songs of Praise, are pleased to announce the return of the irascible Grant Sharkey at the Tuppenny tonight. Grant is a double bass wielding, musical satirist dealing in insightful social commentary, leftfield musical creations, challenging political messages and often just plain silly songs. And let’s face it for a man cast in the musical mould of the likes of Billy Bragg and Attila the Stockbroker, he has a lot to talk about these days.
This show comes as part of the cycle for album Trollbadour, the tenth record and quarter way point in Grant’s ongoing challenge to record 40 albums over 20 years. He is known for writing songs with powerful political and social themes and great humour and this album is no exception. Live, the set is interspersed with plenty of witty banter and passionate discourse about current affairs, so expect the likes of Trump, Brexit, his old friend Mr Murdock and general state of UK politics to feature heavily.
The gig starts at approx 8.30pm. Entry is free but they do ask you to donate and support the artists.
